Of all the ways to loop back, this had to be the stupidest by far.
Kalim shot up out of his bed, shaky hands flying to his neck as he felt around to make sure that he was actually alive. His heart was beating out of his chest as his eyes frantically shot around the room.
He took a moment to collect his thoughts. Okay, he was okay, he was alive and that was the important part.
Don’t think about the feeling of landing in the sand, the resounding crack as he landed on his neck, and the shooting pain that overwhelmed his senses as his vision shot in and out.
Don’t think about the way that he couldn’t move, don’t think about the way that he could see Yuu and Azul looking hesitantly at his limp body as Floyd gently nudged him with his foot, noting how Kalim’s neck was at a “funny angle.”
He was fine. Everything was fine.
