She looks carefully put together and so not from around here, dressed in a white striped button-up and deep denim blue khakis. What draws him in most, however, is her closed-off demeanor. The intense urge to figure her out catches him off guard — though it’s not necessarily unwelcome.
He watches as she separates from her crew, standing in a field picking at dandelions and letting the wisps fly in the breeze around her. The picture is absolutely enticing and he just has to speak to her.

Kate took in as much of a breath as she could fill her burning lungs with and heard her own voice crack as she breathed, “Tyler?”
His eyes softened at the sound of her dispirited voice, they had glistening tears pooling as he tensed his own hand in a fist before placing it back on Kate’s arm. This shouldn’t have happened. It was needless, stubborn, and horrifying that any of this happened, they should've never ended up in that storm much less have died as a result of it.
OR a very self-indulgent slight enemies to lovers with both Tyler and Kate meeting in college before her project leads to the deaths of her friends and offers a friendship to her as he processes his own similar losses.

When Kate and Javi join the tornado wrangler crew after the events in El Reno, dynamics in the group shift. Boone is kicked from his position as Tyler's right-hand man during chases and is now forced to follow behind him and Kate. He's fine with that really, he just doesn't understand why it makes him feel sick to see Kate getting in the shotgun seat instead of him.
Lily knows that something is wrong with Boone, and she'll do everything she can to be there for him. What she can't figure out though is why she feels strange every time Kate smiles in her direction.
