Fitz and Beloved pass a heated and tender night together on the eve of the Prince's quest. Conversation is had, secrets are shared, and even more are guarded jealously.

Will got up and took the riding crop from Regal. “Trust me?” he asked. I had no idea what else to do so I nodded. Besides, I found that I did hold a small measure of trust to him. “Remove your shirt and give me your hands,” Will requested. “It is easier that way.” He bound my wrists in front of me with a thin leather band. His touch filled my mind with a soothing haze. Oh. I sighed in relief. Will would take the edge off whatever he was going to do next. And if I was getting too accustomed to his altering my feelings, I did not care. Was it any better to fog my head with wine and herbs instead of the Skill?

At the end of Royal Assassin, the Fool does not leave for the Mountains with Kettricken but instead stays behind at Regal’s mercy. For some reason he does not completely hate it. -
