As soon as they entered the hallway, one of the other residents hurried past them, shoving Tulio against the wall and briefly separating him from Miguel.
"Hey!"
Miguel yelled after the stranger but then quickly turned to Tulio who was still regaining his balance, and took his hand once more.
"Which way's the door?!"
Tulio asked, feeling all turned around while also struggling to see anything from the constantly thickening smoke. It was a strange feeling; almost like his head was both awake and asleep at the same time.
"I think it's this way! Keep your head down and follow me!"
Miguel instructed, making a sharp move to a certain direction and yanking Tulio with him.
"Tulio?"
he called out only mere seconds later.
"Yeah I'm right here, just go!"
Tulio yelled right back. -

the blond said with a smile, referring to the con they'd pulled off earlier in the day. He was patting Tulio's cheek lightly with his fingertips while he waited for the man to say something. Luckily, that time Tulio didn't get trapped in the endless loop of negative memories and was instead able to pull himself free, with a little help, of course.
"No, you were incredible,"
he said, reflecting Miguel's words right back at him. This was a common practice for them, they were always complimenting each other after a job well done.
"You really made sure they were hooked, Tulio."
"Your distraction tactics worked flawlessly, like always. The ladies sure seemed to love your presence today. They'd never look at me that way,"
Tulio then said. Miguel smirked, knowing just what he was going to say next.
"That's their loss, isn't it? Their loss and your gain, because I was watching, and I loved every moment of it." -
