Mickey is hiding the fact he is an omega, knowing that being outed would make him vulnerable to the south side, or someone's bitch, and in the criminal worlds. So, he masks his scent by using suppressants, suppresses his heats to pretend to be a beta, and cultivates the persona of a violent thug to survive and stay understatement. While Ian Gallagher was completely clueless, naive, and so deep in his own little storm that he had no idea, Mickey was running economic models for Illinois or building a small empire in secret. I was too wrapped up in fear of his bipolar disorder to see that Mickey was carrying the weight of two lives. Mickey never went to Mexico. Mickey pretends to go to jail to keep the image.

He confirms his name and date of birth distractedly. When he lays the letterhead paper on the counter, he re-read the words written on it. He knows them by heart, without hating them.
"Extended-release medication."
It means one dose a day instead of three for the same effect."
