Soul raised his head. His eyes, wide and filled with a strange glow, searched for him with the unsettling innocence of a child who doesn't understand why they're being pushed away. He said nothing; he only rose with a cautious slowness that wasn't a threat, but exhaustion. He approached slowly, as if he didn't fear rejection, until he was so close that Keeho could feel the cold emanating from his skin. That cold ran down his spine like an echo of something he had tried to forget: a fierce, dangerous heat that beat underneath, ready to explode if he let him get any closer.
