    Summary

Jon has a tendency to mull over hard candies, at any given time -- his tongue dancing circles around them, his cheek puffed up just a bit when they sit in place, while he talks around them. It helps him focus, having something to do with his mouth.
It totally isn't distracting, at all. Martin is 100%, entirely normal about it. Yep.

    Summary

Everything in him wanted him to run now, and he was…he was sure that if he did, the man wouldn’t even try to stop him.
Maybe...maybe that was why he didn’t, actually.

Eventually, the man looked back up at him, face open and tired, ever so slightly questioning. At Jon’s guarded expression, he let out a small, tight smile, almost expectant.
“Should probably ask if you’re alright, I guess.” He offered, looking back down at his bag, and tucking things into it, evidently a little more neatly than they’d been shoved in, before. “Got any questions about impromptu medical procedures in the middle of the woods? Care instructions and such? I mean, I'm no doctor, but I manage, so -"

There was a laugh, bright and chiming, to cap off with the words, and Jon fought to reconcile the certainty that this man was *dangerous* with the very real, very evident fact that he was, apparently, *kind.*

    Summary

“I mean…” Jon started, low, with his eyes scanning over the various odds and ends, not landing on anything particular. That was, until they snapped up to Martin’s face, a little too open, a little too soft - crinkled at the edges, with the ghost of a wry smile. “Nothing says we can’t make the hunt house cozy. I think it might help, actually.”
He bit down the instinctive laugh that tried to bubble up at that, and...at the sudden realization of just how *absurd* this all was.
Jon agreeing to decorate their new house together, temporary as it may have been. Them being alive together, at all. Just getting to discuss knicknacks and curiosities, mulling over it like it was domestic and normal, and - and -

And he thought he’d be dead, by the end of last night. Had practically *planned* on it.

…And now he was looking at themed mugs with Jon, in a little shop in the depths of rural Scotland.

     Funny how that worked.

Jon wakes up in the middle of the night. It's cold.
    This means good things, surely.
    Surely.

    Summary

    It'd been Martin's choice, yes,
But...it wasn’t as if there'd been other options.
He couldn't have left. Chosen any differently. Not once Lukas had sunk his teeth in and gotten it in his head that Martin was *his*.

He couldn’t quite breathe right, and the tightness in his throat was getting just a little too present to ignore. The anger was broiling up in the chasm of his chest, simmering around his muscles and melting the sinew down into nothing but pain.
He knew Martin’s reasons. His justifications.
But that didn’t mean it hadn’t been because of Lukas, in the end, regardless. That he hadn’t been the reason Martin had been unable to so much as talk to him, or seek comfort, or want to live -

…It hurt too much to think about.
    All of it.

He wasn’t sure if it’d ever get any easier, or if he’d still just look at Martin sometimes and see all that could’ve been lost. All that had been, for just a moment, already. He couldn’t stand the thought of it, any of it, but he could still hear Lukas’s smug tone, touting how Elias had even let him choose the *victim*.

That was all he’d been, to Lukas.
A pawn. A useful plaything. Something to *hurt*.
