Jazz gazes for a second more. The lines of Optimus’ backstrut shake minutely, and his vents are shaking and weary. A small whimper escapes his vox and Jazz’s spark aches.
There could only be one thing that would have Optimus crumbling, eager to hide his pain.
“Optimus,” he whispers and Optimus startles, servos suspended from where they cradled his face, wet with tears. “Jazz. Jazz, I-I am sorry. Did I wake you?” His Prime croaks back.
“Oh, Optimus,” he whispers again and clambers off the berth they share tonight.
