Humming, Satoru says, “is that so?”
“Yes, but not just him. Ieiri-senpai, too. And even Nanamin and I. We’re all worried.”
He involuntarily squeezes the sweet in his hand, tries to force another smile but doesn’t quite manage it. “Why is that? I’m right here and I’m doing fine, you can see that.”
Hesitating, Yu sighs. “Yeah, but—“ he shrugs. “I don’t know, senpai. For a second there you looked really, genuinely happy and now…”
“And now?”
“Well, you seem like you’re suffering, senpai. And I know it’s not my place but I just wanted to say if senpai needs some company, you can always come to me.”
Smiling, Gojo hums again and reaches over to ruffle the boy’s hair. Haibara’s a good kid. He unwraps the candy and pops it in his mouth just to see a smile on the boy’s face.
Suffering, huh? He smiles to himself, feeling his heart thud weakly in his chest like a replacement, a placeholder. He knows his real heart is somewhere in the building, hair tie curled around his hair and he feels longing like he’s never known, rolling the candy in his mouth. I guess you could say that.

This is, without a doubt, the most vulnerable Satoru has ever felt. He watches Suguru’s eyes soften with understanding, and he nods wordlessly.

He moans, overwhelmed, and into the skin of his torso, Suguru mumbles “Tell me when to stop.”
He says it like a plea, like he needs Satoru to keep him in line because he’s losing his own control.
What a silly thought, that he’d be so undone just with Satoru’s skin— but he is, they both are, ridiculously desperate for something so ordinary and carnal they never noticed they weren’t immune to it.

Suguru can only shrug, equally aware he has no long-term solution here, and nibble his thumb nail. As winter draws closer, the nights will grow inescapably long and the days woefully short. He can’t arrange his work schedule around daylight indefinitely.
And Satoru has nothing but time to wait him out.

Except Suguru’s feeling more like the haggard, run-down victim of a wolf and Satoru’s anything but a Prince Charming.
“I think you might actually be a little too into playing vampire,” Suguru spits between labored breaths, his heartbeat hammering like a rabbit’s.
“Playing?” Satoru’s grin bares bright, white teeth. He tosses the heels at Suguru’s feet and continues stalking forward. “C’mon, you still think I’m playing pretend? Suguru, I’m just playing with my food.”
While walking home after some Halloween partying in Shibuya, Suguru encounters a stranger who is also in costume—as a vampire—and bites off a little more than he can chew.
