“Are we going to find her?” Rylee asked.
With Devon missing, Maul's lightsaber was only half. He could fight efficiently without the other half, but he could never utilize his strongest form. He was at a constant disadvantage. It was as palpable as the way Rylee foolishly looked to him for reassurance, seeking the person he wrongfully assumed to be the second best for comfort in the wake of Devon's absence.
“Yes,” he said between grit teeth. “We will find her, and we will kill them.”
“If she hasn’t done so already,” Rylee said with a half-hearted smile.

OrMaul stares at him. And Rylee shifts uncomfortably under his gaze. Slowly he stands, Rylee stays where he is although the nervous clench and unclench of his hands reveal the boy to not be as glib as he is attempting to portray himself as. He steps closer until he looms slightly above Rylee Lawson, looks down at him, closely and scrutinizingly, and then carefully, as if testing something, he lays a hand on Rylee’s shoulder.

He will have to stay alive for quite awhile to ensure she masters such a form. What a foolish apprentice.
“Such ambition.” He means it warmly.
