That's the trouble with manifest incompetence: as an audience I have no idea what I'm meant to infer anymore. Is the Spock thing a romance? Do they want it to be a romance?
Or are they, somehow, at this point, commenting on how much of a travesty 'romance' would be in this context? (Also see: Marie Batel)
