"Gwangju."
"Ah, cool," and not really what Rui meant. "Where do you work?" She clarifies.
"In a hair salon," he replies. There seems to be no malice in the way he manages to miss the point twice, so Rui lets the question hang in silence for a moment longer, so that, hopefully, Hyun fills it. "Scent."
Rui's eye twitches. The enemy.
It's been just over half a decade since Rui retrained as a hairdresser, and so far it's been working out. She's won national awards for her work for two years running, has the best friends she could ask for, and a life she's finally feeling confident in. After two weeks away, it starts to crumble. This is, undoubtedly, Hyun's fault.

Andrew was seven years old the first and last time he ever prayed. He hadn’t expected anything to come of it. Not really.
Praying was just something you did because a grown-up told you that you were supposed to. Like saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’, or double-knotting your shoes. It wasn’t anything more than a polite precaution in case there really was some omnipotent entity out there watching over them.

Nathaniel life is as we know horrible basically being raised to become another butcher.
However his mom is actually a good mom and she tries her best to give him some freedom.
Yk the rest they go on the run and we meet a few ppl from aftg along the way as Neil navigates friendships and shared secrets
Also important to say he has DID and he has to come to terms with that as well
He eventually meets Andrew and changes the course of both of those lives before he leaves again
And when is mom dies he's the first person he reaches out to.
