Robin’s eyes glisten with tears; those already shed create silver tracks on her cheeks that shimmer in a way that makes Nancy want to take Robin in her arms for the rest of eternity, to hold her until the world ends or else swallows them whole. Her lower lip trembles as she gazes down at Nancy like she’s begging, pleading with her to make it stop, make it go away, make it better.
Nancy brings her hands up slowly. Gives Robin the chance to pull away, if that’s what she needs. But Robin leans into her touch the second Nancy’s palms cup her face, desperate and in need of comfort. It makes Nancy want to sob herself.
How dare they do this to you, she thinks. My beautiful, genius girl. How dare they make you feel small.

Nancy Wheeler is a lot of things.
She is a straight A student, a member of the honor society, the ‘princess’ of Hawkin’s High School. She is Steve Harrington’s girlfriend, and is—was, Barb Holland’s best friend. She was arguably a shitty sister and the person responsible for the death of said best friend.
She did her best to accept herself as she was, she was a realist after all. But there is one thing she just couldn’t seem to accept.She wasn’t a lesbian. Or a fairy or whatever those shit heads like Tommy would call it.
She couldn’t be! She had had boyfriends. She dated Steve. And she really liked Steve. She did!

Summary
It took a year after graduating high school to defeat Vecna. After that, Nancy finally went to Emerson to follow her dreams. After graduating, she moves back to Hawkins and it disrupts everything for Nancy, Robin and Steve who became very close in that year. While she's back, the feeling are re-ignited and burns to brightly that they almost can't avoid it. Besides, it's the first time Nancy and Robin have seen each other in 2 years. They know themselves now. But, more importantly, they know each other.
