The small tear between dimensions should've been nothing— and it would've been nothing. But small mistakes always happen— even if they usually won't completely throw off forces of nature. So before the small tear could fix itself, and the universes' fates continued to play out as planned, something unforseen happened.
A young boy, rather than being five paces behind the rip and thereby out of it's path, was five paces ahead of schedule.
Two small mistakes overlapping created the worst possible outcome for the forces of existence— they turned into a major mistake. One that would affect two universes for the rest of their existences.
And what was that major mistake?

Summary
Viktor and Jayce are preparing to show their work to Heigmerdinger, and possibly the world, but first they must run some final tests on the hex tech. Viktor is the first to notice a strange frizzing from on of the stones. To both scientists horror, a sleek black spike erupts from the smooth blue stone. Even worse, is the explosion it results in. As the smoke clears, Jayce can make out an odd silhouette where the core used to be. The outline of a.. teenage boy?
In Corona, Varian holds back tears from his cot. He just wanted to help his dad. Now, he would wither away underground as the horrid black rocks consume all he loves. At these thoughts, said rocks begin to grow out of the floor, glowing a dangerous blue as the race towards him. The boy can't even run due to his bound hands. He closes his eyes, waiting for a blow that never comes. Suddenly, the smell of smoke fills his nostrils and he feels the floor fall from under him.
