Vesna had been trained for myriad combat situations, emergency scenarios, and on-the-job catastrophes—overall she considered herself to be quite resourceful in a pinch. Unfortunately, she had dedicated little time or energy to the possibility of winding up nude, completely bound with silk ribbon, and abandoned, draped on her side across her partner's bed.
Danica has something important come up at the last possible moment, leaving Vesna alone, tied up, and desperate.

Summary
The Tsaritsa is like glass. Even when Danica touches her she can still see nothing of meaning but that placid surface. Utterly preposterous, then, to think a deity of glass could be held or made her own. Danica has accepted her role for a long time now, she knows how impersonal it is. To make love to The Tsaritsa is to excise a wound of its impurities.
