Summary
Peter, or should I say Spider-Man, establishes a direct line of communication with Detective Jean DeWolff. What was initially posed as a way to contact her under professional circumstances, immediately dissolves into something a lot more cordial thanks to Spider-Man’s insistence he keep calling her for completely non-work related matters.
For whatever reason unknown to Peter, Detective DeWolff decides to allow this to continue instead of just blocking him. Peter thinks she’s just being nice because one of her kids adores Spider-Man.
Most of the time when they’re on these calls they’re on opposite sides of the city. Running into her isn’t an issue that crosses his mind. Plus, his sense would alert him to something like that, right? It all goes swimmingly, that is, until Peter unknowingly enters the same train car as her, while he’s still on the phone with her.

However, recently, she notices him pushing himself and overworking to the point of exhaustion. Though he’s more open to the idea of taking a break after the Jean-Grey incident, DeWolff can’t help worrying about Spider-man.
One night, after a rough fight, DeWolff approaches the exhausted hero with a surprising offer: dinner with her and her kids.
