It isn't until he's in the subway and he meets a man with a baseball cap and a Hawaiian shirt that his senses start to flare and he knows he needs to alert Tony for help.
But it's too late.

Peter gasps for breath, choking as his kidnappers pull him up for air again. The bathtub is still below him, taunting, really, as he chokes on his own saliva and disgusting bath water.
Now, if he were stronger, which he is, when he hasn't been starved and beaten for three days straight, he would've broken the tight bindings around his wrists and beat these guys criminal asses. Unfortunately for him, he has been starved and beaten for the past three days. Funny how his life works.
