There's a tantalizing hint in "The Annihilation Score" about one of Angleton's long-ago assignments as a field agent. All we know is that he wound up vandalizing a pyramid in Belize. Going by the timeline given, I thought it would be interesting to place this story just before Belize became independent. There are also references to the (real life) border conflict between Guatemala and Belize. It is not my intention to paint either side as the villain, but one of the running themes of the series is that political and social conflicts often create opportunities for Lovecraftian entities to gain a foothold. So here we go...
