When Shen Yuan unwillingly takes on the role of Shen Qingqiu—well, maybe he can’t avoid his ultimate fate as a sword, but he can still try to make it a little less painful for everyone involved.

"You poor thing," Shen Yuan rustled in his pocket looking for anything he could use. He withdrew a rumpled but clean tissue and started to pat the boy's face. "Totally my fault alright? Let me pay for the dry cleaning. Actually let me buy you a whole new set of clothes, hm?"

Instead he'd shuffle into the bathroom, scuffing his socked feet, ducking his head as he asked Shen Jiu for the fifteenth time what order he was supposed to put on the various creams for his face. He'd flush when Shen Jiu called him a fool, then flush more when Shen Jiu sat him down and applied everything for him.
Against all odds, he was sweet.
Shen Jiu wanted him badly.
