“Jon,” Bruce shook his head. He tried to put himself in the child’s shoes, bringing up a hand to massage his head, the painkillers Alfred insisted on taking weren’t having an effect yet. “Jon, what’s the matter?”
The boy cried a few seconds more as he struggled to catch a breath that let him speak. “My tu— stomach.” He revealed.
Bruce’s anxiety heightened. “Your stomach hurts?”
“Uh huh,” Jon replied, sounding every bit of a child he was.

Summary
The gunshot rang out the way glass shattered, sudden and without warning. Echoing the loud boom of the gunpowder igniting far and wide across the rooftops.
Gunshots in Gotham were commonplace. Hearing one or getting shot night after night was certainly nothing to write home about. But it was a different matter entirely, Bruce thought, when the bullet embedded into his shoulder, tearing though the muscle fibers there, then subsequently sending him over the edge of the roof— had come from someone he'd trusted not to pull the trigger in the first place.
