Stiles stopped by on a Tuesday. Or maybe it was a Wednesday. She wasn’t sure anymore. He was holding two coffee cups from Starbucks and dressed in ridiculous cut off jeans, an old BHPD t-shirt, and a stupid backwards baseball cap. For some reason it worked for him.
“Wanna come help Derek tear down his house?” he said, holding out a cup to her. She blinked at him, and then took a sip. It wasn’t her favorite drink, just a regular latte she could drink but would never order, and that more than anything kept her from slamming the door in his face.

Shane fixes him with his most withering glare. “Well, if I’m calling something boring, imagine how boring it actually is.”
“I know you are trying to trick me, Hollander,” Ilya states, raising a single brow. “But you will not deny me my right as your husband to see baby Shane in his tiny little skates.”

Summary
Shane wants to figure out if he's gay before he gets drafted—and no, the way he felt when Ilya Rozanov smirked at him with a cigarette between his lips in Saskatchewan has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, the random guy he hooks up with to try and make sure one way or another takes a picture, and Shane gets outed before the draft. In the ensuing scandal, he goes seventh overall, to Ottawa.
It turns out, having the worst thing you can think of happen to you when you're seventeen years old can end up being pretty liberating. And land you an unexpected best friend.
