    The brightness from a computer screen was the only guiding light he could use in the dark.
    Hands fumbled for an inhaler, the sound of ragged, loud wheezing in the dark room. Vision blurring, it was clear there just wasn’t enough time. Not enough time. As he reached for it, his finger hit it, and knocked it out of sight. Without any balance, he stumbled to the floor, and crawled towards it, his eyesight darkening.

    By the time he reached it, his body was weak, and there was suddenly a blinding light. His eyes fluttered shut. Was this what it meant to die? Did he struggle for years on end, just to die so meaninglessly? But he hadn’t even finished the shitty novel he loved dearly—nor college, and he didn’t get to tell his sister he loved her again, or hold his niece.
    It wasn’t fair. It all just wasn’t fair. Everything he’d done, and this was all it would amount to?
