Olruggio never made a big deal about the money his specialized commissions got him. They got what they needed, and some extra at that. To the others, however, it is quite a revelation.

“Master! Master Qifrey! Coco’s hurt!”
Agott’s worried voice echoes from upstairs in the entry hall, carrying down the steps into the kitchen where Qifrey is working.
“I–I’m ok!” Coco hollers in reassurance, but Qifrey’s hands have already dropped the herbs they were binding without a second thought, leaving a scatter of tranquileaf sprigs strewn about the counter. The tone of Agott’s voice had sent a hot jolt of protective fear through his insides, his heart leaping to his throat, beating fast. He nearly trips over his skirt as he hustles up the stone steps into the living room.
.................................................Coco gets a nasty boo-boo, and Qifrey helps get her fixed up. Some big feelings come to the surface and they share an emotional moment.

This must take them longer than they even realise, because moments after unlocking the door and tugging it open, they come face to face with their partner. His glasses are removed, giving Makoto a full, uninhibited view of his inquisitive grey eyes, the way he’s quirked a brow, raven curls tangling with his lashes as he blinks. His hair’s a bit overgrown, enough to curl under his earlobes, and he’s clipped it back with a couple silver hair pins he must’ve nabbed from Makoto’s collection. He looks good, and he also smells like their apartment, coffee and spices, and Makoto can feel the warmth emanating off of him, off the black turtleneck he wears even though it’s the middle of the summer…
Makoto blinks once, twice. Then scrubs at their eyes. “Wow, I’m out of it.”
“It’s coming down out there,” Ren responds. Makoto hears the rustling of his slippers on the carpet as he takes a step back. “Want me to run you a bath?”
