Summary
The war is over, and Hogwarts has reopened its doors for an unprecedented Eighth Year.

It's 8th year and Hermione is desperate to have a year focused on schooling. She's more than a little surprised when Harry and Ron decide to return as well, with no small urging from Mrs. Weasley. As she dives back into a world of books, papers, and exams, she's quickly irritated by Harry and Ron's continued dependence on her for notes, edits, and feedback. Desperate for relief, she partners with Daphne Greengrass for a charms assignment and ends up in the library with a group of Slytherins.
Despite an awkward first month of meeting and being around the snakes, Hermione is surprised and grateful to find a group of students who care about their schooling, are eager to put the war and the sins of the past behind them, and want to build a better future. True, conversations are more stilted (or non-existent) when she and Draco are both present, but their heavy class-loads mean that they rarely have to be together, even with Hermione spending more time with her "rival" house.
Of course, Harry and Ron are disgusted by Hermione's new choice of friends and drama ensues as they continue to try to demand her time and attention and she begins to wonder if they ever really saw her as a friend at all. -
