"Do that again?" he tries, his voice sounding fragile even to his own ears.

Runa was ridiculous.
It was considered impolite to talk about other people’s daemons, but Law found out rather soon in his new life with the Donquixote Pirates that social norms weren’t of much importance to criminals.
Law didn’t really care much about daemons in general, but Corazon’s Runa was hard to ignore.

What scares Haruka the most though, it’s the people closest to him, his vice captains’ reaction. Suo and Nirei look at him a certain way sometimes, like they know.
They poke and prod at him, make him lose his cool and his balance until he feels like an open wound. And it should be a bad thing, and there’s definitely a meanness to it, a bit of selfishness too.
It should be a bad thing, but they are so kind about it.
