Sua stops dead in her tracks.
“Acorn. You know damn well Mizi is a lesbian,” Marty’s tired voice says.
“Was. Didn’t you know she’s been experimenting with Till?” Acorn slurs, burping to punctuate his sentence.
Any sense of drunkenness is chased out of Sua’s system by the cold sense of dread. Her eyes fall on Mizi, who is tugging playfully at Till’s hair, both of them blushing and laughing. The sense of nausea comes back.
“I saw them! Giggling and running into a storage closet together! Came out looking all shifty!” Acorn continues to destroy Sua’s world.

To Sua, life in their household feels something like being in the display window of a permanently closed store. A plane of glass in front of her, letting her see the outside world; a plane of glass behind her, letting her see her sisters, free to roam the inside of the store. Even when the conditions worsen and the world is freezing, when her sisters can huddle together for warmth, Sua is still forced to stand on display, even when she turns pink from the cold.
Her flush was always bright, splotchy, ruined the white of her skin and spread all the way down to her fingers and toes. Mother always said that the pink was ugly. In a world where she isn’t allowed expressiveness out of fear of the wrinkles it’d add to her face, she can’t even have her involuntary reactions.
Sua is always to be perfect, to be seen, to be admired by prying eyes in frilly outfits she can hardly move in. Never to be touched. Held. Spoken to. Even if she tries to speak, she’ll be ignored, muffled by the thick walls of glass. All she can do is press her ivory hands against them, trail her fingers up to the sky and pretend that’s what the pads of her palms press against.

Mizi gasps, straightening up in Sua’s arms without warning. She leans close to Sua’s face, eyes wide and awed. “SUA!” She shouts. “Sua, oh my gosh, Sua, Sua, Sua, Sua-” she babbles, repeating her fiancé’s name like a mantra.
Sua shushes her gently. Mizi shushes her back, even holding up a finger over Sua’s lips, much to the latter’s embarrassment. “You’re super pretty.” Mizi whispers conspiratorially, as if it’s a grand secret.
Hyuna snorts, slamming a hand over her mouth to stifle a round of laughter.
Or, Mizi gets drunk at a rebellion party. Hyuna and Sua get sort-of dragged along.
