Summary
Gordon Freeman did not ask for a second chance.
He didn't ask for Benrey to come back from the dead, bleeding, dazed, and weirdly casual. He never asked to smell the same metallic smell and see the same run-down science facility every time he closed his eyes, or feel the same panic he did a year ago when Benrey does something so simple as to steal a fry from him.
But for some reason, Gordon helps him anyway.
Maybe cause he's stubborn. Or curious.
Or maybe because if he can understand Benrey—and forgive him—he can try to put this all behind him. (It's really a mystery.)
Meanwhile, Benrey's still figuring out how to be a human. But it's hard. Especially when your past is half-fake and your existence might've been a lie, and when Gordon Freeman's staring at you like you personally murdered his dog. -
