The woman paused, face blanking before her features twisted into a scowl.
"Do you know what name the winter soldier goes by now, сука? волк.”
Wolf.
The lights went out, plunging the room into breathless darkness. A second later, the red glow of the emergency lights bloomed through the shadow.
Blood spilling over her broken lip, Yelena grinned up at the woman.
"You better run."

Summary
Will stared back, completely still and unmoving for a long moment, the expression on his bloody face unreadable. After a few seconds, he tore his eyes away from his sister and turned to Mike. Mike twitched at the sudden attention.
"Is this real?"
Mike blinked, his eyebrows reaching for his hairline. Real? What was happening? Mike stuttered, at a loss for words and still disoriented. He started to look to El, but Will's hand tightened hard on his, meeting his eyes desperately.
"Mike, is this real?"
Mike straightened. Wherever Will had been, it messed up his sense of reality bad. Mike didn't know how to tell what was real, had never been in Vecna's mindscape before. He had no reference for what it felt like, but he knew Will's hand in his was warm and strong. He could see the sunlight, bright and clear. He felt the breeze through the open window, the ache in his back from hitting the wall at the base, the sting of the fresh cuts on his face from the glass.
He took a deep breath, and nodded.
"This is real."

Steve ducks his head to hide his foolish smile, stares at his hands for a long second. He’s almost embarrassed, until he thinks on it, because this is Bucky. Just about anything Steve does would humiliate him in front of someone else, but Bucky’s been his best friend since before Steve had any memories at all. If Steve’s making an ass of himself, he can all but guarantee that Bucky will be doing the same, and maybe that’s why he regains his composure and says, “Teach me to dance.”

But his eyes glaze over and he's not entirely sure if it's tears, panic, or the programming. He's screaming somewhere, he can hear it, but his throat doesn't hurt. It's him but not him, that young version of him who's still going through it and believes he can survive in one piece. Who's persuading himself that someone will save him.
