“She’s just through here. She’s very excited to see you,” the butler said and pulled the doors open in a flourish.
The first thing Zelda saw was her grandmother’s black silks. She stood by one of the tall windows, her skirts billowing in the wind. She wore an old-fashioned headpiece with a thin black veil that fell all the way down her back, concealing her face and hair completely.
She looked exactly as she had at Zelda’s mother’s funeral and Zelda thought she shouldn't be as intimidated as she was more than six years later, but she was.
“My Lady, your–”
“Leave us,” her grandmother said, her voice ringing through the room like the crack of a whip.

Zelda’s grandmother who hears voices from the spirit realm calls Zelda to her house and leaves her with an ominous warning.
