“Yoyo, I know that insurance companies don’t want you to admit fault, but Jesus Christ!”
The passenger door opens and the woman exits…Yoyo’s? car. She’s shorter, shiny brown hair up in a ponytail and black scrubs slightly wrinkled. In contrast to the first woman’s serious, slightly scowling expression, this woman looks as if she’s trying desperately not to laugh as she holds out what seems to be a paper proof of insurance card.
“Here, I got it from her glovebox. I’m Trinity. The one that totaled your car is Yolanda Garcia.”
Yolanda whips her head over to glower at Trinity as she scoffs out, “Excuse me?”
“Sorry, Doctor Yolanda Garcia.”
“You know that’s not what I’m referring to,” mutters Yolanda.

Summary
Over the course of the last three weeks, Yolanda has watched Dr. Al-Hashimi worm her way into Dr. Santos’ all too benevolent heart, earning the resident’s respect and admiration with impressive speed.
Yolanda has watched and witnessed and waited. She has waited for the day that it finally stops, for the moment that Al-Hashimi realizes that Santos’ attitude toward her has progressed past what is professionally permissible, for Trinity to accept that she misses Yolanda like Yolanda misses her and finally text her back.
But it has been three weeks.
She has only kept waiting and waiting.
And it has become clear that waiting isn’t working.
or, Yolanda’s reckoning with the end of her and Trinity’s arrangement and their eventual return to one another.

"I have other plans," She mimics Yolanda's words as she pulls on an oversized graphic tee with Snoopy on it. "Who double books a date? Especially on a holiday?" Trinity wonders aloud as she heads to the bathroom to brush her teeth. The more she wonders, the more she suspects Yolanda may have been lying, but maybe she's just saying that to make herself feel better.

She didn't even know Garcia had people like that. Ten months and Trinity could count on one hand the things she actually knew about Garcia's life outside of her apartment. She'd never asked. Hadn't wanted to know, she had told herself. Casual. Clean.
