“Woah,” Thia says, shading her eyes with her hand in an act of pre-programmed human propriety. “Shouldn’t they get a room?”
“It is a common practice,” the female yautja remarks dismissively. “The blood is high after a hunt, and must be quenched one way or another. What does your Dek do, with no others nearby?”
“I don’t know,” Thia says. “I’ve never asked him.”
Now that she considers it, Dek does take himself off to the sleeping area after a hunt. She thought he was tired after all the exertion, but maybe it was the opposite. Has she been a bad clanmate and friend by not offering to help him let off steam? Then again, maybe the thought never occurred to Dek either. Perhaps she’s as unattractive to him as a yautja would be to a human. That hurts her feelings a little for some reason. She ducks down again, this time dunking her entire head below the freezing water.
