Summary

Carter looses a weak scoff, eyes fluttering closed. “G-got stabbed. S’not usually conducive to good health.”
Peter rolls his eyes, though a small smile creeps to his face anyway at the confirmation that yes, despite everything, Carter is still somehow here. Breathing and talking and joking. A far cry from the lifeless weight against Peter’s palms when he rolled him over in the trauma room, unconscious and barely breathing.
OR
Carter gets sick at home following the stabbing, and Peter comes to check on him.

He's trapped inside his own body, a prisoner slamming helplessly against the concrete walls as he re-enacts the event- crouching down to pick up the Valentine's Day card from Yosh, feeling the weight of the man behind him in a way he couldn't when it happened, and then…
The knife. Twisting itself into his back, guided by a hand that won't listen to reason before it's yanked out again and thrust into a yet unmarred patch of skin. The pain is white hot, and his hand, when he pulls it from the wound, is slick with his own blood.
OR
Though he's mostly recovered physically from the attack, Carter's emotional baggage is becoming too much to bear.
