Yamada Hizashi watched Aizawa's downward spiral from afar since graduation - at least until the League of Villains: Vanguard Action Squad began rounding up students and UA teachers alike. "You weren't like this when we were younger," muttered Yamada Hizashi as he brushed his fingers through Aizawa's tangled black hair. He remembered the stubborn teenager from their high school days who had once possessed at least a shred of self-respect.
"Like what?" asked Aizawa as he shut his eyes.
Dead inside. Broken. Available for public use.
Hizashi didn't answer, and Aizawa just sighed.
"Things happen to people, and then those people change," said Aizawa simply before sleep took him, but Hizashi was left wide awake, telling himself not to fall for this godforsaken mess of a man.

But in the end it’s Itachi himself who makes the final decision to take a hammer to his shelter and smash it to pieces by making the most absurd choice of all: asking Shisui to meet him in the middle of downtown L.A. at a trendy new juice bar to discuss whether or not they’re ready to make each other miserable all over again.
