Summary
It's been a year since Roosevelt Island, and Peter has dragged himself back together as best he can. He's rekindled his friendship with Ned, and he's getting comfortable with the idea of MJ being with Paul, but now that he's paying more attention to himself, he's found that he's burning at both ends, and there's not enough time for Spider-Man AND Peter Parker.
The streets of New York are getting restless, with new super-powered individuals popping up every day, and the X-Gene being revealed to the whole world, Peter is dragged into the center of it; as the creator of the Universal Mutation Suppressant, The Brotherhood of Mutants want his head, while the Department of Damage Control (under new management) are interested in using him to 'protect' the City.
So when a certain red-headed telepath and telekinetic asks for his help tracking down the original schematic before either side can abuse it, Peter feels obligated to help.

Summary
Peter continues to wake up with thoughts of Jean and her voice in his mind. She had ran from New York City. That was okay; he understood. He had his own issues to deal with as his body continues to adapt and mutate both naturally and with his help. Accepting he was changing was one thing, actually changing was another. Yet perhaps Jean was not as gone as he believed. Perhaps in the moment he needed someone the most, she was at his door. Jean wants to leave, but there always seems to be something that keeps her there for a few more days.
