Summary
“You’re tired,” Bruce says, out of nowhere. “You think the world left you behind.”
Clark’s head is lulled forward, still in hiding, and he hums. It comes out rough. He doesn’t know why he’s doing it but his feet take him forward, to stand directly within arm’s reach of Bruce, he drops his hand and lets it hang by his side.
“Am I right, Clark?” Bruce says, hovering his palms above the curve of Clark’s shoulders.
With his head still turned away, Clark comes closer, nods once, eyes closed now.
“You’re tired.” Bruce repeats. “You’re tired, and no one else can see it.”
Or: Clark Kent, months after his resurrection, feels that the world he knew had left him behind, impulsively, he goes back to a cabin he used to live in during his travels before he became Superman. Bruce Wayne follows him there.

Summary
Unlike humans, Kryptonians have secondary genders. Clark, an omega, has made peace with the fact that he may find love but he’ll never have a mate. It’s an uneasy peace, but it’s peace.
Since puberty, Clark has had roughly two heats per year. They’re light but enough that he sometimes needs to call on allies while he’s out of commission.
After accepting his crush on Bruce, Clark goes into a spontaneous heat, the most intense he’s ever experienced. Worn down and desperate, he’s drawn to Wayne Manor, assuming Batman is out on patrol. He has no such luck.
Bruce is shocked when a half-dressed, sickened Clark shows up late at night.
They fuck about it.

If asked about it later, Bruce would blame it on sleep deprivation.
It wasn’t just the fact that it took more than two hours for his brain to catch up with what he had done—it was where it happened. Specifically, in the middle of an important Wayne Enterprises meeting with potential investors. He had trailed off mid-sentence while reviewing projections, blinking as the memory finally replayed in full in his mind.
He had kissed Clark.
Or, Bruce's brain takes a little longer to kick in the morning when he's doing the rounds and saying goodbye to everyone before he leaves for work.
