Growing up, Penelope Featherington loved Colin Bridgerton the way every shy girl from a dodgy home situation loves the shining, perfect boy next door. She loved his smile, and the way he always sought her out at family parties, and the shared jokes they had developed over the years. She loved him in a way that felt real, as though it might someday, somehow, amount to something.
Anthony was different.
She loved Anthony like she loved the sun: basking in his warmth whenever it happened to fall across her, but never once mistaking it for something meant specifically for her.
