    Light wasn't delusional enough to say what they did was “making love.” L always collapsed into the mattress early. His body yielded, limbs folding loosely beneath Light’s. Hands thrown over his abdomen, over the tatami cushions, underneath or between his thighs. The sheets gathered around him in soft disarray, dark hair fanning across the pillow in stringy strands he could sometimes count.

    His stillness felt like clouds, as if he were constructed from cloth and thread rather than flesh and bone. A lifeless thing.

    Light is his and L is his doll, come to life by his will and his will alone.

    Aegon does not roar like a dragon in that split second, he hovers in the air, not yet realizing what she has done. That his feet no longer touch the ground. Their gazes meet. No, her husband does not roar like a dragon.

    He whimpers like a mouse, and then he plummets to the streets of King’s Landing like a bird with no wings. A wingless dragon. She does not hear his scream. Only a muffled yelp that lingers in the air.

    The courtiers say Targaryen’s are closer to Gods then men, but her husband’s head, when they find him, is smashed like a melon, his brains on the floor.

    Helaena cannot find it within herself to feel sorry.

    Or: Helaena makes a choice. It ends well.
