“I do a lot of suffering lately,” his own voice rasps on a sigh. Not asleep, then. “It's called growing old.”
“Is it really so bad?” again, Armand sounds… weird. Sad, tortured almost, wistful, regretful… Daniel must be imagining it.
“Right now? Yeah, it's really fucking bad.”
Silence. Daniel manages to unfreeze long enough to walk back to his couch and sit down. There is still a large chunk of the recording left. His state of the art microphone is just about picking up his laboured breathing, coming out of the speakers of his not state of the art laptop very quietly despite the volume being cranked up.

“I didn’t realize you still took in strays,” Armand says, a little meanly. He can’t help himself. He feels untethered, a little out of control, like he often did in his youth. What he doesn’t say is: You didn’t tell me. You could have told me but you didn’t. Why didn’t you tell me?
Marius either doesn’t notice or successfully ignores his biting tone. “Oh, yes. I took a break from fostering after the fire. I’m sure you can imagine it took some time to rebuild and get everything in order again. But a house like this isn’t meant to stay empty, and I can’t stand by and do nothing when I know there are children who need a place to stay, someone to take care of them.”
When Marius has a fall and injures himself, Armand returns to his childhood home to take care of him. Upon his arrival, he finds that his father has started fostering again. But surely there is nothing to worry about.

Lestat gets on the bad side of a witch. Louis, against his better judgement, gets a cat.

“Jesus,” Daniel said, once his dead heart had stopped racing.
“I don’t care for him,” Armand said. He was tapping away at his iPad. “Tell me. Which word do you think would cause greater offense: vapid or insipid?”
“Insipid,” Daniel said immediately, then, taking a closer look at the screen, “Are you fucking review bombing Lestat’s album?”
“It’s something to do,” Armand sighed.
Daniel just wants to get through The Vampire Lestat's documentary in one piece. The Vampires Lestat, Louis and Armand aren't making it any easier for him.
