Just as Wei Ying clears his throat to speak, A-Yuan looks up to him and tugs his robes. “Will Rich-gege come and play with me?” Lan Wangji feels a pang in his heart, wishing for nothing more than to stay with the two of them.
Wei Ying snorts at the nickname and gently takes A-Yuan’s hand clutching his robes. “No A-Yuan, Hanguang-jun is important and has duties that he needs to take care of.”
Once again, Lan Wangji speaks without thinking. “No duties. Xiongzhang gave me a week to complete the night hunt, I took one day.” He almost winces at the lie. It was true he had finished early, only by one day. But if there's a chance he can stay…
Wei Ying’s answering smile is softer than his usual grin, and it tugs at something in Lan Wangji’s heart.
“Well then, A-Yuan, let's show Hanguang-jun to our home.”
