Soda walked out of his room, gliding down the hallway in his socks to the bathroom. He didn't make it far before Darry called his name, telling him he had a letter from his girlfriend. Sodapop wiped sleep from his eyes as he walked into the living room and grabbed the envelope from his brother. “I wonder what she's doin’ sendin’ a note?” Darry spoke Soda’s thoughts aloud.
