Summary
"Some research says the gene could pass on to your children. Since Buck and Christopher are so alike, I was simply concerned that—”
“Let me stop you right there,” is how Hen cuts Eddie off.
“What? Is it not genetic?”
“It might be, I’m not all that familiar with it,” says Hen, shrugging. “But that’s not really relevant, since… Well, how do I put this? Christopher is not biologically related to Buck.” A pause. “Or did you two morons forget that, what, with your questionable codependency?”
Eddie simply stares at her, as his brain short-circuits. Because—
Um, yeah, they did.
____
OR Buck gets diagnosed with ADHD, Eddie schedules an assessment for Christopher, and neither of them realize that there’s not much to worry about since Buck isn’t related to him. Which, uh, might’ve slipped both their minds. -

“Did you just scent me?” Buck asks, one eyebrow lifting. Scenting an omega so blatantly is just rude at best.
The firefighter immediately looks embarrassed. “I didn't mean to,” he says, rubbing the back of his neck.
“That's not really making it better,” Buck replies, trying to laugh it off.
“I'm serious. I was just walking past and….” The guy hesitates, his eyes flicking across the room toward Eddie. “You smell like Diaz.”
Buck nearly chokes on his coffee.
or: where someone making a comment about alpha eddie's scent always lingering on buck, finally gets them to admit what they’ve both been feeling all along.

He reaches out, takes Tommy’s hand in his and smiles, soft and trembling.
Tommy looks taken aback, but doesn’t pull away. Doesn’t return the squeeze Buck offers him either, though.
“O-Okay, that’s— yeah, I’ll—” Bile crawls up Buck’s throat, discomfort burning along his esophagus. He doesn’t know why. “I could just move in with you.”
Tommy blinks. Blinks again. The pause he leaves is purposeful, weighty. He leaves Buck waiting there, unsure, still holding his hand. Then, “You’d give up your loft for me.”
OR: Buck moves in with Tommy. And then moves out again. Somewhere along the way, he rediscovers the meaning of home.

Summary
“But he’s Buck,” Theo explains, pushing a small finger into Buck’s chest, as if to show Tommy exactly who Buck was. “Everyone calls him Buck.”
Tommy’s face relaxes slightly as he answers, “yes, that’s true, but—”
“Everyone!” Theo cuts Tommy off, holding up his hand as he begins to count on his fingers. “Me, Chris, Auntie Hen and Karen, Uncle Chimney, Ravi—”
Once he runs out of fingers on his one hand, he looks up at Buck, realization dawning on his face. “Aunt Maddie calls you Evan!” He exclaims, almost shouts in Buck’s face, eyes comically wide at this, apparently very important, piece of information.
Buck nods. “Yes, she does. Sometimes.”
“Aunt Maddie does, sometimes.” Theo reiterates to Tommy, his eyes narrowing as he cocks his head to the side, thinking. “Wait— Eddie does too! But only sometimes. Like less sometimes than Aunt Maddie. I think? But Eddie is Eddie, so it’s different.”
Tommy can’t help the snort he lets out, “you’re right about that, kid.”
Or, Buck runs into his ex at the grocery store, which forces Buck to confront feelings he's been ignoring for far too long.

Summary
“That’s it,” Eddie said sternly, turning the lid on the tube and pulling it off. He squeezed the tube from the bottom, dotting a pea sized amount on his finger. “Open up.”
Buck’s eyes widened. “Excuse me?”
“Open. Up.” Eddie repeated, stressing each word.
OR; Buck has a toothache. Eddie takes care of it, and then Eddie gets taken care of - in more ways than one.
