    Summary

Bucky isn't doing too well right now. His best friend (or, the man he loved - but Bucky ain't one for dramatics, so he'll just keep sayin' friend) decided to live an entire life without him, the US government wants to imprison or kill him, HYDRA might still be around, and he's displaced in time. Again.

Good news is, he's not completely alone, at least for the moment. And when he has to go on the run again, he'll find out that help comes from the most unexpected places.

“Isn’t that weird?” Sam starts, raising an eyebrow at Bucky’s parallel self.

“Sam-“ Bucky tries to interject, looking increasingly distressed – but it’s no use.

“I mean, you third wheeling Steve and his wife out here in the middle of nowhere?” Sam finishes, and Bucky can only cover his face with his metal hand and wish the ground would swallow him whole, knowing what is coming as surely as he has ever known anything.

“Pal,” the Other Bucky replies with a smirk, holding up his flesh hand to show off a thin silver band while the real Bucky stares resolutely at the ground, “I am his wife.”

    Or

Of all the parallel universes they could have ended up in, Bucky can't think of a worse one than this - one that serves as a constant reminder of everything he's ever wanted, and everything he can't ever have.

    Summary

They say life can change in an instant. One moment you think you know what your future holds, and the next, everything changes. One event that will forever alter the trajectory of your life.

Twenty years ago, that happened to Steve.

One moment he and Bucky were sitting side by side under the star-filled sky; together and inseparable as they had always been. The next, their village was attacked; Raiders appearing on dragons and razing buildings to the ground – all the while taking any child that crossed their path as they tried to flee.

    They took Bucky.

Bucky fought like a dragon possessed to get free. Steve fought like a dragon possessed to free him. But neither were strong enough, and Steve lost his best friend to the evil in the night.

Steve lost Bucky twenty years ago, and now trouble is stirring once again, threatening everything he holds dear. Things are happening that he is yet to see the end of, war draws ever closer to their borders - and the man with the metal arm that appeared is shrouded in mystery.

No matter his curiosity, one thing is for certain; he failed those he cared about once before, and he's not about to make the same mistake again.

    Summary

Bucky Barnes knew from a young age not to ask his ma about the scars that popped up without prior injury. She'd just get upset and insist he was far too young for these things. Steve's ma on the other hand.... She had no qualms telling him that those scars'd help him find his soulmate one day. But what he never told Sarah was that he already knew who that was. Because who else had that scar down their chest?

Or: the five times Bucky woke up to new scars, and the one time Steve did
