It starts innocuously enough, about a week after Denji and Power move in.
“Hey, do ya have a pen?” Denji asks out of the blue one day after dinner.
Aki blinks, takes a second to process the request.
“A pen? Sure.”
He doesn’t even think to ask why Denji needs a pen. He simply stands and walks to the kitchen to rummage through the junk drawer. The junk drawer used to hold a few recipe cards and some odds and ends, but now it seems to collect whatever junk Denji and Power leave lying around. Aki fishes around until he finds a simple black pen.
He tosses it to Denji and watches his eyes widen a little with delight when he catches it. He almost wonders why the half-devil looks so excited over a cheap ballpoint pen, but by this point he knows that Denji is just easily excited. This is the same guy that can be bribed with a stick of gum.
“I demand an offering as well!” Power shouts at him, like she’s not sitting ten feet away at most. “Something better than Denji’s!”

It would be easier if they ate people’s heads off, but Eddie is good. Eddie does not want to kill people. Eddie sees something in people that Tel-Kar never allowed Venom to recognize in the first place. He sees something in them beyond tools to be used. Even the bad people, sometimes. He believes, sincerely, in second chances.
Venom thinks Eddie must be his second chance.
