"So, what's the magic?" An unknown feminine voice asks out loud just after the bell tingles, announcing her arrival.
Amity looks up, getting pulled out of her train of thought, and slowly blinks. "I'm sorry, what?"
A young, tanned girl with short chestnut hair and too much eyeliner grins awkwardly, standing right in front of her. She giggles in order to conceal her social anxiety and moves her hands as if she were performing some kind of magical ritual or jazz dance.
"The magic! You know, since... the shop's called... Flowers & Magic?"
"Oh!" The owner exclaims, feeling dumb all of a sudden. "Of course! Flowers & Magic!"

OR, Luz's therapist advices her to buy some flowers for herself. Luckily, Amity's a florist.

Summary
Luz Noceda feels she has her life in order. She's starting her second year at Bonesborough University, has friends she adores, and works part-time at The Owl House café. But one day, someone walks through the door - a mysterious, aloof, and alluring girl by the name of Amity Blight.
A soft "Excuse me?" jolts Luz out of her reverie. In front of the counter stands a girl, clearly waiting to give her order; though any thought of doing her job falls right out the window of Luz's train of thought as said mental locomotive shoots right off its rails.
The girl looks like she has stepped right out of one of Luz's beloved fantasy books. Her hair is a soft shade of lilac, cascading down her shoulders in gentle waves. She wears a knee-length black dress, cinched at the waist with a broad belt, and her face is nothing short of regal; high cheekbones, gracefully arched brows, eyes the color of honey and sunlight and-
"I'd like a mocha, please?" The girl phrases it like a question, and Luz realizes it's because she has been frozen in place for much longer than is socially acceptable, mind still coming up with words to accurately describe the girl's absolutely captivating eyes.

Lucia seemed to be messing around with her friends, laughing at some random joke between the three of them, playfully flicking peas in each other’s directions. Amelia rolled her eyes, diverting her focus to her food. There was no reason for her to put any energy into watching someone who annoyed her to her core, no matter how mad she was from that morning.
Almost on cue, Skara cleared her throat to catch Amelia’s attention, and gestured in Lucia’s direction.
“Y’know that girl you’re always fighting with over there? Lucia?” Skara asked, waving her fork in the air. “I heard she started dating this popular guy.”
Amelia’s spoon stilled.
