Grant wasn’t supposed to stay.
It was supposed to be like every other night: have really great sex, a little bit of required aftercare and then book it out of there before Dick woke up.
Unfortunately, none of that seems to matter when Dick is warm, sleepy, wrapped around him and asking him to stay for breakfast.
Grant is beginning to suspect he is a fool for believing things could ever go like they’re supposed to when it comes to Dick Grayson.
Or: Grant discovers that having a lover (boyfriend) like Dick Grayson apparently comes with cuddling, breakfast and other deeply inconvenient yet required forms of domesticity.

As if he wasn’t aware this was an old game, one that had long ago come to a draw. Going through the motions in order to keep the brain sharp and to do something other than stare at the wall. Or give Hugo ammunition to use against them. He seemed to find great humor in their playing chess without a board and allowed it.
“My pawn takes the bishop then.’
Twitch, twitch, twitch. The failing springs protested, hearing the slap of barefeet against concrete and the brief rattle of metal. He wasn’t even heaving, which meant that the side effect had been mild, probably worked through with that first projection of what had been in his stomach.
“Which. Bishop.’ He seethed.
And even though he couldn’t see anything, Jonathan turned his head in the direction of the door so his voice would carry better.
“The white one.’
