Summary
For what seemed like forever, Sherlock had simply hadn’t had the time to worry about such a thing. And when he had finally been allowed into some semblance of solace once more, the thought of allowing himself a moment of vulnerability—even if it really was only a moment—felt like actively giving himself over to whatever evil wasn’t there anymore, but still lurked in whatever twisted nooks and crannies that the descent had offered him.
So Sherlock had simply ”toughed it out” and kept on with his life. Or, at the very least, what life could be in the midst of wreckage.
But then again, every facade had to fade, and every knee would inevitably have to buckle; now, every little thing that seemed so petty just a few months ago was landing with the weight of an anvil in the old cartoons John liked to watch, leading him to the door of the very same man and an unholy hour of night Sherlock had long since become acquainted with.
Or
Sherlock allows himself a moment of vulnerability after returning from Reichenbach.

Daruk startles at his own name.
“Huh?” he says, glancing between everyone. He scratches his head. “I can’t go in?”
“Keep up, pebbles for brains,” Revali snaps. “No men allowed in there.”
“I’m a man?”
Daruk doesn't quite fit into other races' idea of "gender," but he finds that he's not alone.
