Osiris Proud holds the unshakable belief that he was born irreparably broken, and the best thing he could do for the sake of everyone (including himself) would be dying. Dalbergia Callarly holds the unshakable belief that he will fix his little boy from the inside out.

Summary
Set in GlitchyRobo's Human Domestication Guide setting.
Humanity has been invaded by a precursor race of hypercompetent plant dommes called the Affini, and forcibly given paradise in a post-scarcity culture that heavily prioritizes the care for its protectorates, to the point of drugging and mind-controlling them into a blissful reverie if necessary. For almost everyone this is a vast improvement. All that's required is to give up any silly notions that anyone except for the Affini know what's best for everyone; in many cases the poor things clearly don't.
Charlie Fitzgerald has seen too many instances of moving fast and breaking things to trust the green tide that swept across her city after the aliens came, and in particular, the magic mystery box in her kitchen. They said it could compile anything. She didn't believe them.
A short one-shot ventfic about a news item I found particularly distasteful. No formatting tricks or anything this time. I'm just writing.
