“Hurt,” Aemond repeated derisively, “Don’t you think you ought to hurt a little as penance for what you did to me?”
“It was an accident,” Lucerys whispered, "You were going to kill Jace."
“An accident that blinded me for life,” Aemond spat.
“Do you want to take my eye too?”
Aemond scoffed at that. He cupped Lucerys’s cheek, startling him at the sudden touch. His thumb caressed the soft skin under his left eye. Lucerys held himself still, as if waiting for Aemond to dig his thumb into the eye socket and gauge his eye out.
Or, In order to quell the conflict in their House, Aemond and Lucerys are wed. But Aemond remembers the past and is ready to collect his dues.

That night Lucerys had snuck up to the library. He was restless and still upset about the confrontation at King’s Landing and the library felt safe. He had read by the moonlight, curled up with his book when he finally nodded off. In doing so he damned himself.
The Driftmark Throne is secured and Rhaenyra returns home believing she and Alicent can mend their friendship. During the night Dragonstone is attacked by hired assassins and when the family finds each other, they quickly realize Lucerys is not among them.

When 15-year-old avid gamer Luke Waters falls into the game realm of Zaldrīzes to prevent the Dance of Dragons from happening, his first reaction is:
Are you shit*ing my d*ck?Until he realizes whose character design he's been assigned: Lucerys "Velaryon", bastard prince and the most unfortunate plot device to have ever plot device-ed, who is also the trigger point for the war and dies horribly in every ending of the game. Not just that, his overall character design, to be frank, is useless. The guy has no special talent for anything except for pissing certain people off and hiding cowardly behind his privilege.
In fact, Luke isn't surprised that the first to get offed in the diplomatic phase of war via dragon 'chomp!' is a dude like Lucerys Velaryon.
