After Holiday break, there were three things every student from National City High could agree on.
First: their teams were heading once again to excel in the State Championship, courtesy of the one and only Alex Danvers.
Second: the no student shall step into the cafeteria after the weekend rule was still on and maybe they should avoid chicken on Wednesdays. Just for precaution.
Third: passing on Miss Luthor’s class was probably the hardest thing they would have to do through the entire year, but they would manage. And she was stern, and no smiles, and rigorous, a tough exterior to hide the interior softness.
Unless, of course, Kara Danvers was around.

Kara runs her fingers through her hair, fucking bamboozled. “I’m not…” she tries to mutter, unsure of what to say and how to feel, “I’m just surprised. I just--I thought you didn’t like her because--”
The brunette laughs bitterly. “Romantic feelings were bound to happen when somebody keeps saving you from death and believes in you when you don’t even believe in yourself,” she remarks.

The pretty lady stares at her in disbelief. Her eyes are a very pretty color, like the sea or the sky or a green Jolly Rancher. “You woke me up at two in the morning to tell me that my curtains are ugly.”
Kara considers this. “Yes.”

At first Lena didn’t believe it. Supergirl, dead? Just like that? Impossible. But then DEO agents rushed the scene and took the body away and Lena stared at the screen, tears she didn’t feel dripping from her eyes. She grabbed her phone and dialled Kara’s number. It rang and rang and rang, finally going to voicemail. Lena tried twelve more times until the phone was switched off and it no longer rang.
They had two funerals for her. One for Kara; one for Supergirl.

Supergirl dies fighting a kryptonite mutant. Lena spends the next five years developing the very first time machine. The only problem is that she can't send herself back, only her memories. So she sends them, and she hopes that her past self with her current memories has what it takes to save Kara.

Eva's four hours into reviewing requisition requests in her office when something hits her desk with a dull sound. She places one finger on the paper in front of her to mark her place and looks up.
"Yes?" she asks. "What is it, Ilyukhina?"
Ilyukhina sighs, then nudges the empty glass closer. It bumps up against the edge of the request Eva's reading, and Eva gives her a level look.
"Since you refuse to come drink with us," Ilyukhina says, "I have brought the drinks to you." She pulls a bottle out of her jacket and waggles her eyebrows. It's vodka, of course; Eva wouldn't expect anything else.
