Summary
Scent patches were mandatory for anyone participating in World Junior's, but a lot of the Russian guys Shane saw in the hotel or around the rink had them loosely attached to their necks or not quite centered over their scent gland. Shane had been on his way to his parents' car when the wind shifted, and he smelled that Rozanov, leaning against the wall and not-at-all-surreptitiously fishing a carton of cigarettes out of his pocket, must have been one of them.

another classic nontraditional a/b/o..this one really does not shy away from attempting to tackle the vast scope of intersectionality at play..patriarchy in all its forms that any twenty-something would recognize in their own lives, but also racism, disability, power, sexuality, family politics, locker room hierarchies/corporate structures...

Summary
Shaving, Ilya discovers, is something Shane approaches with a near ritualistic precision.
There are steps. An order everything needs to be done in so that Shane’s jawline ends up silky smooth.

I really like this...a very soothing and sensory fic. Also makes me want to learn how to use a straight razor

Summary
He’s just about ready to doze off—his ritualistic pre-dinner, thirty-minute nap—when, suddenly, Ilya says, “Huh. Interesting.”
Shane cracks one eye open. “Hmm?”
“Oh, nothing, малыш,” he replies, though his brows are furrowed when he says it. Shane’s even more curious now.
“No, really, what is it?”
Ilya must lose some internal debate; a deep sigh leaves his body before, wordlessly, he turns his phone to Shane.
The bright light makes him squint, still not used to Ilya and his affinity for both using the light-mode feature and turning the brightness in his phone to a maximum. He forgoes scolding him when, after his eyes have adjusted, he reads: Metros acquires Fil-Canadian Rivera; second Asian player in franchise history after Hollander.
At first he thinks, oh, that’s my name. Shane hasn’t seen his name mentioned remotely near the words ‘Montreal Metros’ ever since he transferred to Ottawa three years ago. Then, and this is when it finally dawns on him, Shane thinks: second?

A part of my Doesn't want to bookmark this fic because it makes me uncomfortable. Not an easy read.
A treatise on identity, especially as diaspora. Written from the perspective of the mixed son of a second gen immigrant but it hits personally all the same. What can I complain when I have chosen to abandon certain threads and cut away certain parts of history to make my own? Even if that home I chose is made of paper, weaker material than the cinder block of back home?

Summary
Ilya’s obviously aware that there’s something up with Shane, okay? No one who spent their formative years (as well as their twenties and thirties) obsessively watching Shane Hollander Best Goal YouTube clips could glimpse what was going on with the Metros last season and think that nothing had changed. He asked and asked over the summer months, and Shane denied and denied and denied to the point where Ilya had to wonder if Shane knew there was something up with himself. But that was silly. Of course Shane knew.
Ilya likes to think he’s the Shane Hollander whisperer. He knows about Shane’s dormant exhibitionism kink and how to trigger it without triggering what neither of them like to call an anxiety attack. He knows the difference between Shane's hungry stomach grumbles and impending-stomach-ache stomach grumbles. There’s probably not a freckle on Shane’s body Ilya hasn’t licked before, if he’s being honest. That’s not really impressive or a key to revealing Shane’s psyche or anything, but it’s probably worth mentioning.
On Shane Hollander's transfer to the Ottawa Centaurs, and everything he left behind.

Another banger from this author. Once again, Shane MF Hollander, who is an asshole, delicious stuff (a little bit angsty, because Shane is trying not to fuck up this new team, he wants it to succeed even if he doesn't have the patience or bandwidth to deal with everything but he shows up to practice and keeps trying, my boy)

Summary
It all happens so quickly. One moment, Hayden is moving towards his wife so he can fall apart in her arms, and the next, there’s six feet of oddly nervous Russian hockey player separating Jackie from him.
“Is ok,” Rozanov says, hands in the air as though Hayden’s holding a gun. “Pike, whatever you are upset about. Is not Jackie’s fault.”
Or: Hayden, Ilya, and the mortifying ordeal of being known.

I'm really falling in love with sensitive stories that have adults who address childhood trauma in an adult fashion. Good stuff. And I love stories that flesh out good friend hayden
